Need help with your research? Don’t know where to start? Then the Razorback Researcher Seminar Series is for you! Hosted by the University Libraries, this series of virtual, in-person, and hybrid seminars covers the basics of research, efficient use of specific resources, citation management, and more. All sessions are free to participants.

Library 101
All are welcome to learn about the locations of the five campus libraries as well as the services they offer, including Course Reserves, Computer and Print Services, My Library Account, Remote Access, Subject Librarians, Research Guides, Study Spaces, Instructional Videos, Special Collections, Interlibrary Loan, Ask Us, Frequently Asked Questions, and Search Basics. Hybrid sessions will be held from 4-5 p.m. in MULN 439 and virtually on Wednesday, August 21, and Thursday, August 22.

EndNote Web Guide: Bibliographic Citation Manager
Do you need to cite sources for your paper, thesis, or dissertation? In this online seminar, participants will learn how to manage citations using the EndNote Web Citation Manager. Sessions will be held on Monday, August 19, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:35 a.m. and Tuesday, August 20, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. All sessions will contain the same information, and instructions for virtual participation will be sent to all participants who register.

Nursing Research: Introduction to Library Resources
Attendees will learn about library resources useful for research in the health sciences, particularly nursing. Topics covered include locating peer-reviewed articles, determining the most appropriate databases for a given topic, citing sources, and ways to get help with library questions. Online sessions will be offered on Tuesday, August 27, from 4 to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. An in-person session is scheduled for Thursday, September 7, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in MULN 439. All sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining the virtual sessions will be sent to those who register.

OneSearch Basics
Participants will learn the basics of Libraries’ OneSearch, including keywords, delimiters, saving searches, requesting, special format searches, and more. Hybrid sessions will be offered in MULN 439 and online from 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, Wednesday, September 4, Wednesday, September 18, Wednesday, October 2, and Wednesday, October 16. All sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for virtual participation will be sent to all participants who register.

Basics of Business Administration: Company and Industry Research
This interactive workshop on the fundamentals of business research will be held on Thursday, September 5th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in MULN 439 and is ideal for business students. Participants will learn how to find valuable information about companies and industries using top databases such as Statista, IBISWorld and Mintel Reports. You will learn practical skills that will help you in your classes and your future career. And with the career fair just around the corner, you will get tips on researching companies you want to work for and identifying industries you are interested in. Please bring a laptop or similar device to participate in the workshop activities.

Academics and artificial intelligence: what you need to know
This seminar will address student use of artificial intelligence and how to ensure that use complies with the university’s policies on artificial intelligence and academic integrity. It will also provide tips on possible ethical opportunities for using artificial intelligence in academia and life. An in-person session will be held on Monday, September 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in MULN 439, and a virtual session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 11, from 11:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining the online session will be sent to all participants.

Refresher for university graduates
This seminar will be offered in MULN 439 and virtually on Tuesday, September 10, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The session will provide an overview of the fundamentals of library science tailored to graduate students.

Make the most of Google Scholar
In this seminar, you will learn effective search techniques and how to find trustworthy, relevant resources. An online session will be held on Monday, September 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m., and an in-person session is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2, from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in MULN 439. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for attending the online session will be sent to all participants.

Mastering the literature review
Are you conducting a literature review for your midterm/final exam? Are you starting the second chapter of your dissertation? Then this hybrid workshop is for you! Learn more about the literature review process and how the library can support you. The first session will be on Tuesday, October 1st from 12:30-1:30pm, and the second session is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19th from 12:30-1:30pm. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for virtual participation will be sent to all participants who register. The in-person portion will be in MULN 439.

Nursing Research: Understanding the PICO Framework
This seminar provides an introduction to the PICO framework as used in the health sciences, particularly nursing, to help participants develop compelling research questions. Online sessions will be offered on Tuesday, October 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, October 11, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. An in-person session is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in MULN 439. All sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for participating in the virtual sessions will be sent to those who register.

Basics of the research poster
A research poster can be a great way to showcase your work and gain presentation experience. This seminar will cover everything you need to know about the University of Arizona Undergraduate Research Week Poster Contest, from the application process to the day of the event. An online session is scheduled for Monday, October 14, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m., and an in-person session will be from 11:50 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16, in MULN 439. Both sessions will provide the same information, and instructions for joining the virtual session will be sent to all participants.

Basics of systematic review
This hybrid seminar will be held on Monday, October 21, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in MULN 439 and online. The seminar will be led by librarian Megan York, who holds a specialization in Systematic Reviews Services from the Medical Library Association. It is open to all disciplines and covers the fundamentals of a systematic review from start to finish. Instructions for virtual participation will be sent to all registrants.
