The length of stay in the ports of San Pedro Bay remains low in July

The Pacific Merchant Shipping Association (PMSA) announced that the average dwell time of trucks transporting containers through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach remained low in July.

The average time spent by freight on rail increased compared to the previous month, but remained below the peak levels reached at the beginning of the year.

PMSA reported that cargo transiting through the San Pedro Bay port complex and destined for local distribution by truck spent an average of 2.81 days at port terminals in July, slightly more than the 2.70 days reported in June.

In July, the average time spent on rail freight was 5.66 days, compared to 4.73 days in June.

Natasha Villa, External Affairs Manager at the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association, said: “Given the high volume of cargo at ports in July, we are pleased that truck idle times remain low and that all stakeholders are working together to improve cargo handling at ports.”

PMSA reported that the average dwell time of containers transported by truck through the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach remained low and stable in June.
