Lil Wayne reveals why he didn’t perform at Afronation 2024 in Detroit

American rapper Lil Wayne has spoken out about the reason for his conspicuous absence from Afronation 2024, despite being the headliner.

Following the official confirmation on May 21, 2024 that popular American rapper and multiple award winner Lil Wayne would be the headliner at the 2024 Afronation Festival in Detroit, fans who had been eagerly awaiting his appearance at the event were visibly surprised to discover that the rap mogul was a no-show that evening.

Lil Wayne was originally scheduled to perform alongside Detroit natives PartyNextDoor, Asake, Rema, Ayra Starr and Kash Doll during the two-day event, which took place on August 17 and 18, 2024 at the Bedrock Douglass venue.

The lineup promised a diverse mix of musical styles, bringing together artists from different genres and backgrounds for an exciting weekend of performances, but these expectations were not fulfilled by the conspicuous absence of Lil Wayne.

However, the rapper announced via his social media platform that due to weather conditions on the day of his scheduled performance, he was unable to take the flight to Detroit and hoped to see his fans again at another time.

His contribution was: “Afro Nation, I am truly sorry to inform you that I will not be able to perform tonight due to weather conditions that made my flight to Detroit impossible. I hope to see you again soon.”

This revelation came just hours before his highly anticipated performance on Sunday, August 18, 2024. However, the show continued in his absence as Asakusa, Rema, Ayra Starr and others delivered remarkable performances at Afronation 2024 in Detroit.
