Player receives ‘most embarrassing red card ever’ in footage you have to see to believe

A football player playing in Peru was sent off during this time and the reason will shock you.

With hundreds of football matches played every day around the world, you might think we’ve seen it all.

Great goals, unexpected winners and terrible VAR decisions – fans of the beautiful game have experienced a lot over the years.

But in a match in Peru, one of the strangest and most embarrassing red cards in football was shown and it has to be seen to be believed.

Sebastian Munoz, a player for Peruvian club Atletico Awajun, was playing a national cup match against Cantorcillo FC when his team was awarded a corner kick.

Munoz took the corner kick, but play was stopped while Canatocillo goalkeeper Lucho Ruiz was being treated for an injury.

Therefore, Munoz thought he would take advantage of the moment and time to quickly relieve himself and urinate on the field.

A member of the opposing team immediately noticed Munoz’s actions and immediately alerted the referee.

The referee went to Munoz and immediately showed him the red card for his behaviour, despite the protests of the player who did not know what he had done wrong.

Strangely, this is not the first time a player has been sent off for this reason, with a goalkeeper having been sent off in a similar situation in an FA Cup match.

In 2022, Blackfield & Langley FC goalkeeper Connor Maseko was sent off in the 76th minute of an FA Cup qualifier against Shepton Mallet FC after he began urinating in a hedge.

Speaking to BBC Sport at the time, co-manager Conor McCarthy said: “The ball went out of play and there was a goal kick.”

“He had to go to the toilet, so he leaned against a hedge and the players on the team started shouting at the referee, asking, ‘What is he doing?’ The referee went to him and decided to send him off.

“He (Maseko) was protecting himself. He was inside the hedge. Sometimes you have to go when you have to go.”

“I was speechless. We are all pretty shocked by the decision.”

The FA Cup match ended 0-0 and was replayed three days later. Shepton won the match 3-2.
