Drake and Chingy may be from very different eras of hip-hop, but they also have a lot in common. They’re both huge fans of Sexyy Red and apparently have the same attitude when it comes to playing basketball in front of girls. Additionally, the 6ix God took to his Instagram story on Sunday night (August 18) to mock the St. Louis native for his 2003 “One Call Away” lyric. “The next day I’m with the boys at the trunk, playing ball / Here she comes with her friends, they put her on the wall / Now I’m showing off, trying to dunk, trying to dribble / I break through the middle fast just to see her smile and giggle,” he rapped on the cut.
“Nah Chingy I felt that,” Drake wrote to Chingy on his IG story, paving the way for a backhanded compliment. “Like why do I play better when the boys ain’t watching? You really hit the nail on the head with that one mischievous lyric. Also the fact that you said you wanna dribble off the bar like, we know you’re a badass at the ball game. But your boys showed up and you started doing too much of it, really damn you’re a guy for that bar.”
Drake’s (sneaky) praise for Chingy
In other Drake Instagram news, many people are reading quite a bit about his story posts and other recent activity. Some recent snaps, for example, have had diehard fans speculating what his next collaboration might be. Of course, the Toronto superstar knows exactly what he’s doing with these posts, and even if he keeps a low profile for a while, he’ll still use social media to drum up excitement for his next move. That’s the OVO way, though we doubt he’s done for the year.
Meanwhile, a recent statement from DJ Akademiks has fans wondering what Drake will do in the future in terms of press. Apparently, he nixed the idea of a press conference some time ago, and we all know about his contentious relationship with some media personalities like Joe Budden and Elliott Wilson. Who knows if we’ll see another OVO interview? All we know is that with the Instagram, he can pretty much speak for himself whenever he wants.
