Baumgartner: It’s time to cheer on the FHHS Falcons

Carol Baumgartner |

It’s almost football season!

I remember going to my own high school games every Friday night, sitting in the frozen metal bleachers in Kansas in my fan blazer and cheering on my friends. A few decades later, I was shivering in the cold Seattle rain, watching my grandson, the quarterback, and his friends play with all their might for the honor of their high school.

After reading the article about our Fountain Hills High School football team, I was excited about the idea of being back in the stands, this time in the nice evening warmth, cheering and rooting for our Falcons! We are fortunate to have a coach who is back and a full team of young guys who are excited to play the game. They have worked hard and practiced and I can’t wait to cheer them on. I don’t know any of the players right now, but after a few games I will know their names, which will add to the fun.

High school sports teach students much more than just the rules of the game. We all say we love living here in our small town, so let’s support our kids in soccer and other sports as well. It’s a great opportunity to get to know our young athletes, their parents and their teachers.

Have a great year, Fountain Hills Falcons!
