ZF Aftermarket launches repair kits for electric drives

ZF Aftermarket, a complete system provider for the aftermarket, has released 25 electric axle drive repair kits for cars and SUVs in the United States and Canada (USC).

The kits allow independent workshops to perform repairs without removing electric axle drives, making it faster and easier for workshops to service electric vehicles. The new kits are among 45 new products that ZF Aftermarket recently launched in the USC region.

The new drive kits expand ZF Aftermarket’s product portfolio for electric and hybrid vehicles, which includes brake pads, chassis components and air spring compressors from ZF Lifeguard e-Fluids and TRW Electric Blue specially developed for these vehicles.

With the new electric drive kits, workshops can carry out the following repairs, among others:

  • Replacing leaky coolant connections
  • Repair of defective parking locks
  • Changing speed or temperature sensors
  • Replacing drive shafts

ZF repair kits for electric axle drives contain all spare parts and fastening elements for the required repair.

It is not necessary to remove the electric motor or the electric axle drive; however, workshops must ensure that only qualified technicians with appropriate training carry out the work. High-voltage training is required and available from ZF Aftermarket.

“Workshops are seeing more and more electric cars and need spare parts to service them. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electric drives, ZF is now making its products available to the independent aftermarket in our region. We are excited to launch these specially compiled kits for 25 electric axle drive repair scenarios,” said Mark Cali, Head of Independent Aftermarket, USC for ZF Aftermarket.

Since electric motors have few moving parts, they are subject to less wear and tear than conventional combustion engines. However, after years of use, repairs to the drive system may sometimes be necessary.

In addition, drive components can be damaged by contamination or corrosion of the contact points, loss of tightness, accidental damage or accidents.

The 25 repair kits for electric axle drives from ZF Aftermarket can now be ordered. The exact contents of the individual repair kits and all vehicle models for which they are available can be viewed in the ZF Aftermarket online product catalog. ZF Aftermarket plans to introduce further repair kits for various vehicle manufacturers in the future.

In addition to the repair kits, ZF Aftermarket recently introduced 10 new part numbers for TRW brake pads, expanding coverage to more than 2 million additional vehicles in the field. They are among 255 new products being introduced for passenger vehicles in the USC region in 2024.
