Passaic District Attorney: Two people seriously injured in two fatal accidents

PATERSON, NJ — Two people died and two were seriously injured when the vehicle they were traveling in struck a pole on State Route 20 in Paterson early Sunday morning, officials said.

The accident occurred at about 4:05 a.m. near the intersection of 18th Avenue and McLean Boulevard, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer Isa Abbassi said in a news release.

Emergency crews took all four people to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center. Two passengers were pronounced dead at the hospital, and the driver and another passenger were in critical condition, officials said.

The Passaic County District Attorney’s Office has asked anyone with additional information about this accident or who may have witnessed the accident to call the appropriate tip line at 1-877-370-PCPO or email [email protected].

“The cause of the car crash is currently unknown,” officials said Sunday. “The investigation is ongoing. More information will be released as soon as it is available.”
