Dennis Schröder criticizes Kevin Durant for “cheap insult” about the US team’s gold medal

Germany’s star Dennis Schröder responded to comments from Kevin Durant after the US team won the gold medal. The men’s basketball competition at the Paris Olympics offered some of the toughest competition in any sport, with the US suffering the odd scare against European teams.

This led to Schröder said that European basketball was purely a question of intelligence and closed the gap between the two NBA players. However, this statement did not sit well with Durant, who took a subtle jab at the Brooklyn Nets player after the Brooklyn Nets’ win over France. Schröder responded to KD’s comments in a recent Twitch stream.

And then day 1, and Kevin Durant tweeted 'IQ and Entertainment'. For me, that's just being weak. Like you are that type of a star and you have to say something to a person like me, like who not even meant it to be negative. It was just what I've seen from both sides, so I didn't appreciate it".

Dennis Schröder said

As Dennis Schröder explained, he had not expected Durant to give him a chance for those statements during the Olympics. He pointed out that this is just his perspective on basketball, as he has played on both sides. The Brookyn Nets star previously played for SG Braunschweig and Phantoms Braunschweig in Germany before coming to the NBA.

In addition, the 30-year-old claimed Kevin Durant dissing him was quite unprofessional, which he did not appreciate at all. And since he did not mean it negatively when talking about his experience, the German considers Durant’s reaction as “weak”. It seems that Schröder is right about that, because at the 2024 Olympics, the USA had to fight against strong European opponents, especially in the semifinals and finals.

Kevin Durant becomes USA’s top scorer at the Olympics after record season

During the Olympics, Kevin Durant supported the US team in several games of the campaign, breaking several records. One of them was the game against Brazil, in which Durant became his country’s all-time leading scorer in both men’s and women’s basketball. In that game, the Phoenix Suns star scored 11 points and four rebounds, leading the USA to victory with a final score of 122-87.

In fact, it was a game in which he finally rose to the top of the rankings with 494 points. With this tally, the 35-year-old ensured that the original record holder, WNBA star Lisa Lesliewas pushed into second place.

Records are meant to be broken, so somebody will come along and do the same. I’m focused on trying to win this gold.

Kevin Durant said in response to breaking Leslie’s record

The NBA star also holds the record for most gold medals in Olympic basketball, four. And once again, Durant proved his dominance as one of the best players of his generation.
