Drake seems to show his affection for Chingy with the single “One Call Away”

On Monday (August 19), Drake spontaneously decided to highlight one of Chingy’s biggest hits. In his Instagram stories, the Toronto artist reflected on “One Call Away,” which comes from Chingy’s debut studio LP. jackpotand the chorus featured singer and actor Jason Weaver.

In particular, Drizzy seemed to be in awe of certain lines that the St. Louis The emcee sang the song’s second verse. “I’m at the cage with the boys, playing ball. Here she comes with her friends. They got her on the wall. Now I’m showing off, trying to dunk, dribble, break through the middle fast, just to see her smile and giggle,” the former Disturbing Tha Peace artist rapped on the 2004 cut.

“Nah Chingy, I felt that,” Drake wrote. “So why do I play better when the boys ain’t watching? You really hit the nail on the head with that GOATed lyric. And also the fact that you said ‘Tryna dribble’… We know you were a badass playing ball but your thing showed and you started doing too much. So that’s for real as fuck. You a dude for this bar.” The song’s writer has yet to respond to the bizarre shout-out.

“One Call Away” peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned Chingy a gold certification. The oft-sampled track also charted in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Canada and the United Kingdom.

As REVOLT previously reported, in August Drake blessed his fans with “100 Gigs for Your Headtop,” a website that featured tons of video footage from past studio sessions, nights out with his crew, and more. Those who checked out the site were also able to check out three unreleased songs – “It’s Up” featuring 21 Savage and Young Thug, “Blue Greed Red,” and the Latto and Gordo-assisted “Housekeeping Knows.”
