Cruise guest explains why the ‘cheapest room’ on board might be the best | Travel News | Travel

A cruise passenger has revealed why he thinks a budget-friendly interior room might be the best choice on the ship.

The cheapest rooms on board are usually inside cabins in the middle of the ship, which do not have a balcony or window.

Some ships offer their passengers digital windows through which they can view ocean scenes. Although they are not very popular, one guest on Reddit has championed these rooms.

A user named “Redturtle29” revealed: “Some people have told me that when booking a room on a cruise they should get a balcony or something nice with a window, but I actually prefer the cheapest room available.”

They added: “The room is usually smaller and has no windows. I love it because I wake up in the morning in total darkness.”

This opinion was not entirely unpopular among cruise guests, with one passenger agreeing, saying, “We also prefer the inside cabins. Aside from sleeping and going to the bathroom, we spend very little time in our cabin on cruises.”

However, some guests said they would rather wake up with natural light than be left in complete darkness.

One vacationer said: “Although I have sailed in inside cabins many times, I prefer to be able to look out the window sometimes and be naturally awakened by the sun without having to be woken up.”

Another guest expressed his preference by saying, “My husband is also an introvert. For him, it’s nice to have a balcony. When he gets tired of people, he can sit outside and read or watch a movie alone on his laptop.”

Balcony cabins offer a private outdoor oasis and serve as a peaceful refuge from busy ship life for those who need it.

Guests who don’t want to spend too much but still want to enjoy a view choose window cabins as they offer the perfect balance between cost and amenities.

Travel experts like Wendy Perrin recommend paying extra for a balcony on occasion.
