The Ross Collins CTE Center partners with Nissan to give students the opportunity to learn about the latest technology

MERIDIAN, Mississippi (WTOK) – The Meridian School District Board of Directors held its monthly meeting Monday evening.

This meeting discussed the recent partnership between the Ross Collins CTE Center and Nissan North America, which has donated a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder to all programs in Mississippi.

This will benefit the children in the automotive program. Since technology is constantly changing on a daily basis, this will help them better understand newer and updated car models and learn how to repair them.

“Just recently, CTE partnered with Nissan North America and donated a Nissan Pathfinder to all the programs in this city. This is a training facility that allows us to provide students in our automotive service technology program with the latest vehicle technology. They can run diagnostics to look for problems. They just have the newer technology that prepares them for the job. Even if a student leaves the automotive program and doesn’t work as a mechanic, they’re going to be driving a vehicle. They need to know the latest, updated technology. So if they can drive a car, that helps them keep up with the times because the data is constantly changing. So I try to provide that for those who are committed to it,” says CTE Director Matt Johnson.

The Ross Collins CTE Center will begin recruiting this school year by visiting various schools to teach its students.
