Jeff’s overview:

This year, there is reason for optimism at Logan View/Scribner-Snyder because a new sheriff is in town. Todd Ekart is the school’s new head coach, taking over the program from Matt Carlson, who coached the team for three seasons. Coach Ekart tells us about his career.

6 starters return on both sides of the ball for the Raiders, namely Truman Young (Jr QB/CB) who had 98 rushes, 822 passing yards, 3 TD and 17 tackles last year, Chase Hartman (Jr C), Chaise Hilbers (So OL/DL) who had 37 tackles and 1.5 sacks last year, Dawson Klug (Sr OL/DL), Nolan Robley (Sr WR/DB) who had 70 tackles and 1 INT last year, Josh Egbers (Sr WR/DB) who had 427 receiving yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT and 44 tackles last season and Grayson Kraus (So DB) who recorded 263 receiving yards, 1 TD, 5 INT and 34 tackles as a freshman in 2023.

The Raiders said goodbye to Chance Foust, Justus Weidemann, Owen Meyer, Gavin Ruwe, Braydon Wobken, Wristan Brainard, Caleb Nesson and Theo Windhusen last year.

Coach Ekart says the children welcomed him with open arms.

I truly believe Coach Ekart is going to turn this program around and make it a winner. He is a proven winner who has won at other places he has been and I fully expect him to take this program to a high level and play for and win championships.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder will look to build on their success from the end of last year. Bob Jensen of Huskerland Prep Report talks about what he expects from the Raiders this year…

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder finished 3-6 a year ago.

Jeff’s season outlook:

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder wants to build a winning and championship culture. Ekart says there may be some teething issues along the way. “There’s a small senior class, but there are good numbers in the lower classes. We’re going to be young and need to develop depth quickly. Our specialty positions should be a bright spot for us. We won’t be very big on the offensive line, but we’ll be athletic. The biggest challenge for our team at the start of the season will be learning a new offense, defense and special teams.”

The Raiders open the season at home against West Point-Beemer on Aug. 30 in a game that will be broadcast on 107.9 the Bull. Ekart says he doesn’t know what to expect from the Cadets.

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder is in District C1-3 with DC West, Fort Calhoun, Elkhorn Mount Michael, Omaha Concordia and Wahoo. Ekart shares his thoughts on the district.

Coach Ekart adds that Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Coach Ekart adds that his team is young but hardworking and ready to work.

Jeff’s opinion on the season:

I think this is going to be a good football team this year. I could see the Raiders going 5-4 or maybe even 6-3. I think Coach Ekart is the right fit and I’m very excited to see what the future holds for Logan View/Scribner-Snyder football. I really believe this team can win a district championship and make the playoffs in a few years, if not sooner. These kids have to get up every day and be ready to play football hard and tough.
