Summer is almost over – and what better way to welcome the beginning of autumn than by booking a cheap and beautiful trip?

If you’re like us, summer is always an expensive time of year. But just because you’re trying to save some money doesn’t mean you can’t get away for a long weekend.

In fact, you can, and you’ll probably spend less than you would in Ireland – literally.

Check out some places we’re putting on our travel list for this fall that definitely won’t break your budget.

1. Valencia, Spain

A city rich in architecture, history and countless markets, Valencia is Spain’s sustainable hub and perfect for a short trip this autumn.

Take a stroll along the beaches or cycle through the city gardens before settling down somewhere for the afternoon with a delicious paella and Spanish beer.

A small bottle can be bought in some bars for just over €1. Need we say more?

2. Prague, Czech Republic

Ah, Prague, what a city. Whether you want to enjoy the scenic city views, the wonderfully preserved architecture or the numerous pub crawls, you are guaranteed to have a great time here.

It’s one of the cheapest places in Europe – grab a hostel room for around ten pounds, add some very cheap street food and a beer that costs less than water, and you’ll be laughing.

3. Portimao, Portugal

When it comes to cheap and fun travel, the Algarve is nothing new, but if you’re looking for somewhere new (and a little busier) to explore, make Portimão your next destination.

Gothic, stylish and close to plenty of beaches, this city is quickly becoming a favourite with the Irish – especially those looking for a night or two out.

4. Krakow, Poland

Spend your money wisely this fall and book a stay in Krakow, Poland’s medieval capital.

Beautiful squares, delicious street food and a vibrant nightlife (did we mention there’s cheap beer?) – Krakow’s Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s hidden gems.

5. Bratislava, Slovakia

Bratislava is located on the banks of the Danube and is surrounded by vineyards, mountains and beautiful cobbled streets.

The city is becoming increasingly popular with travelers because it is walkable, pretty, and much more relaxed than many of its neighboring cities.

6. Vilnius, Lithuania

Often hailed as Europe’s cheapest city break, Vilnius has everything you need for a short trip.

With its beautiful Gothic Quarter, winding streets and a new focus on art and culture, this city is ideal for history buffs and foodies alike. Potato dumplings are very popular there – delicious!

7. Athens, Greece

Athens is easy to explore on a budget, so why not make the Greek capital your next weekend stop?

Not only are there British Columbia’s landmarks, ancient temples and beautifully preserved art, but there’s also sun, sea and so much to do in this otherworldly civilization.
