Bryan Danielson says things have changed for the better in WWE, but he prefers AEW’s style

Bryan Danielson comments on the style differences between WWE and AEW.

Bryan Danielson left WWE to join AEW in 2021 after achieving almost everything there was to achieve in WWE. The style in WWE has changed with Triple H taking over as Chief Content Officer in 2022 and gaining full control of creative direction in the fall of 2023.

Speaking to The Gorilla Position, Danielson was asked if he would have any concerns about joining AEW given the changes in WWE following his exit.

“No not at all,” he explained. “No. I think the way I look at it is that things have obviously changed for the better there, and significantly. The way I look at it is that, first of all, I’ve had an incredible time doing what I do. There are a lot of people, and I think I’m one of them, that prefer the style of AEW. It’s more wrestling focused than drama. I like the idea that there’s an alternative. When I was thinking about what I wanted to do as far as leaving WWE, I was never someone who didn’t like WWE. I tried not to say anything bad about WWE because I really enjoyed my time there and liked the people I worked with. The people that are there are still my friends. One of the things I really wanted was to be a part of this thing that makes the wrestling industry better for everyone involved. Having AEW, just the fact that AEW exists, is a lot better for all of us. I prefer the style too. I like the style a little bit more.”

Danielson will challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Title at AEW All In.

Elsewhere in the interview, Danielson commented on the meeting between Shane McMahon and Tony Khan. You can find his full comments here.
