Algaktiv’s Densidyl, derived from microalgae, fights the emossome and the exposome and thus combats hair loss and graying

Algaktiv uses its expertise in microalgae and biotechnology and has launched a breakthrough hair care ingredient: Algaktiv Densidyl, which has been shown in vitro and clinical tests to be effective against hair loss and greying caused by both environmental and emotional stress. According to Algaktiv, this is the first cosmetic ingredient that targets both the Subscribe (emotional stressors) through cortisol and melatonin modulation and the exposome through the control of external aggressors.

Dual microalgae emossome and exposome effects

Algaktiv Densidyl (INCI: Water (Aqua) (and) Propanediol (and) Chlorella emersonii Extract (and) Lecithin (and) Spirulina Maxima Extract (and) ascorbic acid (and) tocopherol) achieves these effects by combining the effective properties of two microalgae to protect and regenerate hair follicles.

  1. The antioxidant effect of phycocyanin from Spirulina maxima. According to the company, this blue pigment activates the NRF2 signaling pathway, strengthens the hair’s antioxidant defenses and protects against oxidative stress and environmental damage.
  2. The stress-modulating effects of xanthophylls from Chlorella emersoniiThese pigments are thought to inhibit cortisol levels by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor. They also increase melatonin activity by modulating the melatonin receptor 1A, thereby counteracting the damaging effects of stress on hair follicles and promoting cell repair.

According to the company, the active performance-enhancing ingredients are encapsulated in a pharmaceutical delivery system and provide comprehensive and holistic 360-degree protection against environmental and emotional stressors.

Findings on combating hair loss in vitro

In terms of hair stimulation, cultured human hair follicles treated with Alkative Densidyl showed a four-fold increase in hair length after seven days compared to epidermal growth factor, the company reports. Compared to the pharmaceutical reference molecule minoxidil, the increase was even twice as high.

Clinical evidence against hair loss

A five-month clinical study involving 50 volunteers – both men and women suffering from stress-related hair loss – showed a 25.9% increase in anagen (growth phase) hair and an 11.43% increase in hair density after treatment with 2% Algaktiv Densidyl, corresponding to an average of 10,200 new hairs.

Clinical evidence to combat greying and moisturise the scalp

The subjects also experienced a significant reduction in gray hair with 2% Algaktiv Densidyl, The natural color is visibly enhanced and the overall health of the scalp is improved. In particular, the product increases scalp moisture by 26.7%.
