KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD releases dark new single “Long Way Down”

Kenny Wayne Shepherdthe multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated, outstanding blues-rock guitarist, has just released his latest single “Long way down”, a smoldering track that stands out as one of the most intense moments on his upcoming album “Dirt On My Diamonds, Volume 2” will be released on 20 September above Mascot/Provogue Records.

“Long way down” tlets listeners delve deep into a moodier, more introspective side of shepherd‘s sound. With its gritty textures and selective, blistering guitar solos, “Long way down” is proof of shepherd‘s mastery of “less is more”. “It’s the least conspicuous solo on the record, but that’s precisely why it cuts deeper,” shepherd reflects.

“Dirt On My Diamonds, Volume 2” takes place where Volume 1 left off, expanding the boundaries of modern blues-rock while still staying true to its roots. shepherd wrote the material in the legendary FAME Studios In Muscle Shoals, Alabamawhich brings the studio’s rich history into the album’s DNA. “The only reason we went to Muscle Shoals was to soak up the atmosphere that has existed in this room for so many decades,” shepherd reflects.

For the first time in his career, he was forced to hold back new material. shepherd admits it was difficult to keep these latest songs a secret. “They sounded great in rehearsals and we can’t wait to get out there and play them,” he says. Now, finally, the standard-bearer of 21st century rock ‘n’ roll is ready to put the cherry on the “Dirt on my diamond” Project with Volume 2.

“These are two unique albums that stand on their own,” shepherd is of the opinion “But together, I think they make such a compelling package. We’ve had tremendous success in my career and I’m very grateful for that. But even now, I still feel like there’s still more to discover musically. I just want to keep pushing the boundaries.”
