Groundbreaking free AI app can save drivers hundreds of pounds in repair costs at the touch of a button

A CAR data company has unveiled a “groundbreaking” new AI app that could save drivers hundreds of dollars in repair bills – and it’s free.

The tool also helps you determine if your local repair shop is ripping you off and plan the cost of maintenance.

Carly Repair Costs is the latest feature from Carly, an automotive data platform designed to make it easier for everyday drivers to understand what’s going on under their hood.

Carly’s father and son founding team came up with the idea of making car maintenance more affordable after they were quoted over £7,000 to repair their family BMW, but then realised the problem could be fixed with an £80 part.

They still have the car today.

The new service, which launches in the UK today, leverages the company’s extensive database of over 60 million vehicle fault reports from around the world.

Drivers simply need to enter the make and model of their car and the symptoms observed and the AI assistant searches the data for the three most likely causes.

Each of these tips includes an approximate repair cost based on actual data from car owners who have had the same problem before.

These are in turn divided into the estimated labor costs and the costs of the parts.

Not only does this help drivers budget for their repairs, but it can save you hundreds of dollars by not overpaying for major repairs that may not be necessary.

And if you’re unlucky enough to end up at an unscrupulous repair shop, knowing the correct price range for each repair can prevent you from being ripped off for the same job.

The tool can be accessed and used for free on Carly’s website.

Simple device detects car problems and can easily fix them before “money is wasted on repairs”

Registered users can also search for their errors in the member forums and get advice in the threads dedicated to this specific problem.

Even better, the discussion is truly global, as Carly’s AI instantly translates forum posts so they can be accessed from anywhere.

Daniel Meeghan, UK Country Manager at Carly, said: “The rising cost of living continues to be a concern in the UK and we want to provide greater transparency around car maintenance costs so that car owners can better estimate their spending and prioritise repairs based on severity.”

“By accurately predicting repair costs, drivers can also be sure that they are getting a fair quote when they go to the workshop.”

“This launch marks Carly’s second free tool.

“We want users to try these free tools to give them insight into the power of intelligent vehicle repair and maintenance solutions so that we can continue to give car owners control of their car.”
