Hagerstown Community College, Frostburg and other schools receive part of .5 million in campus security grants

August 8, 2024 – Governor Wes Moore today announced that the Maryland Higher Education Commission has awarded $18.75 million in campus safety grants to Maryland’s colleges and universities. The grants will help improve public safety infrastructure on campus.

“Public safety is our government’s top priority,” said Governor Moore. “These grants will enable our universities to continue investing in infrastructure that helps make our campuses safer for students, faculty and staff.”

Funds will be administered through the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s Campus Safety Grant program. Projects or initiatives eligible for funds include campus safety assessments and recommendations, implementation of enhanced safety measures and mechanisms, and emergency management planning. Awardees must track and measure program outcomes and results through quarterly performance measures and financial reports submitted to the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
