During his appearance on the Dan LeBatard Show, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa had harsh words for the former HC and the current Vikings DC Brian Floresand said that the coach was insulting and criticizing him as a player.

“To put it very simply, if you woke up every morning and I told you that you’re bad at what you’re doing, that you don’t belong where you are, that you shouldn’t be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven’t earned this right, and then somebody else comes along and tells you, ‘Dude, you’re the best for this. You’re exactly, you’re the best, whatever, you’re this, you’re that.’ How would you feel if you listened to one or the other? You know what I mean? And then you hear it, you hear it. No matter what it is, the good or the bad. And as you hear it more and more, you start to actually believe it. I don’t care who you are. You could be the President of the United States. If a terrible person tells you things that you don’t want to hear or that you probably shouldn’t hear, you’re going to start to believe that about yourself.” said Tagovailoa.

Flores responded to Tagovailoa’s interview by saying he had thought a lot about how they approached Miami.

“I think part of coaching is correcting. I will always correct.” said Flores. “I’m always going to have high standards. And I think, you know, I’ve thought a lot about this situation… about the situation, the communication, you know, I think there are definitely things I could do better. And I’ve grown in that regard. And I’ve tried to apply the things that I can do better and the things that I’ve learned over the last 2-3 years. But I would say that over the course of my 21-year career here in the league, I’ve had a lot of great relationships. Players, coaches, personnel, equipment, you know, people in the kitchen, really across the board. I’ve had a lot of great relationships. I’ll continue to do that. But I’m also always trying to get better and evolve.”

Tagovailoa calls Flores “terrible person”, Flores reiterated how he tried to learn as a coach.

“See, I am human” Flores said. “You know, that hit me in a way that wasn’t — I wouldn’t say it was positive for me. But at the same time, I have to use that and say, ‘Hey, how can I grow from this? How can I be better?’ And that’s really my standpoint. Do I feel like that’s who I am? No. But, you know, how can I grow from this situation and create a world where that’s not the case, you know, someone says that about Brian Flores.”

Nozzles

The Jets have parted ways with QB Zach Wilson in the offseason and signed QB Thomas Taylor as a replacement for the team. New York QB Aaron Rodgers was happy to have another veteran in the room and talked about how Taylor helped him.

“It was a lot of fun having a backup who is in his mid-30s,” Rodgers said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN. “It helps to have a player who has played so much because he can see things from a different perspective because he’s been around so long. He’s not obligated to do that for me; he’s just a great teammate. So we help each other out.

“It’s like a shared understanding of sincerity, that we both just really want the other person to see what we see. So when he tells me something, I take it at face value because he knows what he’s talking about and he knows it’s the same for me.”

Patriots

Patriots HC Jerod Mayo said the first-round QB Drake May is “steady” in training and they plan to give him more reps this week.

“He was stable,” Mayo said via ProFootballTalk. “I think if I had to say one word, it would be consistent. He’s always in the building, always learning. He’s out here trying to get better every day. He’s going to take more reps this week, if that’s the underlying question. He’s going to take more reps this week, believe me.”
