What is Ohio State’s biggest game outside of Oregon and Michigan?

During the entire Ohio State Football season, we will be asking and answering questions about the team, college football, and anything else that concerns us to varying degrees. If you have a question you want to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.

There’s only about a week and a half left until the start of Ohio State’s football season, so we’re checking in with Buckeye Nation to see what games they’re most looking forward to this season and which position groups they have the highest hopes for.

So take a look at the questions below and then fill out the survey at the end of the article.

Question 1: What game other than Oregon or Michigan are you most looking forward to this season?

For obvious reasons, the trip to Eugene, Oregon and the regular season finale at the Horseshoe are the highlights of the fall schedule, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other incredibly exciting games to look forward to.

Personally, I’m most excited about the Akron game right now simply because it’s the first one. Normally, a matchup with the Zips wouldn’t do much for me, but after the way last season ended and the crazy offseason, I’m excited to get some real Buckeye football back on my TV.

I find it interesting that four of Ohio State’s five toughest games are back-to-back – with a week off in between. The Buckeyes start October with a game against the Iowa Hawkeyes on October 5th, then travel to the Pacific Northwest on October 12th to face their longtime conference rivals, the Oregon Ducks.

After a free date on October 19, they will close out the month by welcoming the Nebraska Cornhuskers – who could well be undefeated at this point – to Ohio Stadium before heading to Happy Valley to face the Penn State Nittany Lions to conclude the challenge.

Even though the Bucks only play four away games all season, there are plenty of extremely exciting encounters outside of the two top games on the schedule.

Question 2: Which Ohio State position group will end up having the best season?

I’m really curious to see what everyone thinks. With the majority of the core players from last year back and some high-profile transfers coming in, some position groups have the potential to be some of the best in the country.

On offense, the running backs have that potential, led by Heisman candidates TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins. But does that lack of depth worry you since they only have two true freshmen behind them?

And what about the safeties, with Caleb Downs now leading the pack alongside Lathan Ransom? Downs is arguably the best defensive player in the country and Ransom is coming off a really good year in 2023, so maybe they could move up to the top.

Let us know your choices in the poll below.
