US Highway 10 closed for repairs

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close U.S. Highway 10 in both directions at Highway 23 between 15th Avenue and Seventh Street SE in St. Cloud and Benton Drive in Sauk Rapids from 7:00 a.m. August 26 to 11:00 a.m. August 28.

The 52-hour closure is necessary to remove the old eastbound Highway 23 bridge spanning U.S. Highway 10. Detour routes are as follows:

  • Heading East U.S. Motorway 10 will be diverted via Highway 15, Highway 23 (Division Street), Lincoln Avenue and 15th Avenue SE back to Highway 10 east.
  • Towards the West US Motorway 10 will make a detour along 15th Avenue SE, Lincoln Avenue, Highway 23, Benton County Road 1 (Mayhew Lake Road) and Golden Spike Road back to Highway 10 west.

These detour routes through St. Cloud experience stop-and-go traffic, especially during rush hour. Plan accordingly and look for alternate routes.

Travelers can use Highway 15, Interstate 94 and Highway 24 as an alternate route to Highway 10.

Highway 23 will remain open to two-way traffic on the new bridge over Highway 10.

For additional information and detour maps for Highway 10, please visit the Highway 10-23 Interchange Construction Site in St. Cloud, Benton County: www.mndot.gov/d3/stc/.

Once completed in November, the interchange will represent an investment in infrastructure that will last for over 60 years, provide a smoother road surface and improve safety and accessibility for drivers and pedestrians.

To avoid delays, consider an alternate route and check road conditions in advance at 511mn.org.
