App Store Vice President Matt Fischer will reportedly leave the company as Apple prepares to reorganize the ‌App Store‌ to deal with regulatory changes Bloomberg.

Apple plans to split its ‌App Store‌ group into two teams, one that will manage the ‌App Store‌ and a second team that will oversee alternative app distribution. Since earlier this year, Apple has supported iOS app downloads from alternative app stores and from websites in the European Union, a change the company had to make to comply with the Digital Markets Act.

To ensure ongoing compliance with EU regulations on app distribution and alternative payment methods, App Store boss Phil Schiller is changing the App Store hierarchy.

Fischer joined Apple in 2003 to lead iTunes marketing, but has been vice president of the App Store since 2010. In an email to Apple employees today, Fischer said he had been thinking about leaving Apple for some time and the restructuring provided the right opportunity to do so.

Following Fischer’s departure, Carson Oliver, senior director of the App Store, will assume oversight of the App Store, and Ann Thai, a director responsible for App Store functions, will lead the team responsible for alternative app distribution.
