Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket will be available worldwide for iPhone and Android smartphones on October 30, 2024, and we can’t wait.
The new game brings one of the world’s most popular trading card games to the best iPhones, in a simpler, easier-to-learn way than the full-fledged card game. Given the popularity of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, this could be the Pokémon Company’s biggest mobile hit since Pokémon Go.
The idea is simple: open packs of cards (two free daily) and build a deck to battle and trade with other collectors. The game will be inspired by the physical TCG, but will add new “immersive card” designs that give you a never-before-seen look at card art.
The game was announced earlier this year on Pokémon Day in February, and we’ve been patiently waiting for a release date ever since. You can pre-register for the game on the App Store now, but if you’re lucky enough to live in New Zealand, a soft launch will be available between now and October.

Pokémon Trading Card Game for the Modern World
As a huge Pokémon TCG fan myself, Pocket seems like the logical next step for one of the most popular card games in the world. The introduction of digital cards to collect and free daily packs to satisfy the craving for rare cards will interest trading card collectors and every Pokémon fan on the planet.
Yes, there will be microtransactions, but if the packs are much cheaper than the physical trading card game, then the game could become a viable way to play against other players online and collect without having to completely break the bank. Time will tell, though, as we wait for more information on the gameplay loop and how the microtransactions will actually work. With October 30th fast approaching, we don’t have long to wait.
