But Christina Aguilera isn’t just a Y2K music icon, she’s also an OG beauty muse who, 25 years later, continues to prove that legacy will live long. I’m talking a “Skunk Hair” resurrection…but more on that below.
In a recent Instagram post shared just under 24 hours ago (August 21, 2024), Xtina thanked her fans for the love on her latest performance look. “Thank you for all the love on this special look. I was so excited to see that so many of you were as inspired by it as I was. Thank you for the messages, the tweets, the encouraging comments, and for loving my creative expression. I love you guys a thousand times!!!!!! 🥹🦋🤍,” she wrote as the caption to the seven-part carousel post.
Of course, the “special look” in its entirety is out of this world – with the monochrome embellished fit – but what makes for a sentimental, bold statement are the thick highlights styled into butt-skimming braids. This hair look is reminiscent of the unabashed thick badger hair trend of the early 2000s.
Today, we like to refer to this as the skunk hair trend due to the combination of blonde and black. And last year, industry legends Gwen Stefani and Rihanna both rocked the hairstyle in question, so you know what that means… three is not a crowd, it’s a trend!
