“Prom” at the senior center and more

The Trumbull Senior Center is rolling out the Hollywood red carpet with its senior prom on September 20th from 1-3 p.m. There will be music, dancing, appetizers, a photo booth and more. Registration is open. Membership and registration are required to attend.
The cost is $8 for residents and $10 for non-residents. Payment must be made within five business days of registration.
Sponsors include Wilton Meadows Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Sheraton Caregivers and Genesis Health Care St. Joseph’s Center.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to compete in a National Scripps Spelling Bee? Here’s your chance to participate in a program where you’ll pit your spelling skills against others and hold your nerve to make it to the top. The Trumbull Library is hosting an adult spelling bee on September 14th from 2-4 p.m. in their community room. Spellers of all levels are welcome to become the Trumbull Library’s first spelling bee champion.

Contestants will receive a list of words from the library to study and memorize days before the contest. Contestants will have the opportunity to use a life preserver to spell a challenging word. Rules and guidelines will be distributed to all contestants who register.

Sustainable Trumbull, with its Save the Sound partners, is hosting a cleanup at Twin Brooks Park on September 22 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Gloves and bags will be provided. Come to all or part of the event. Registration is required. To register, visit savethesound.org/…/2024-coastal-cleanup.

The Connecticut Cleanup is a statewide effort led by Save the Sound as part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup. This global event, held on International Coastal Cleanup Day in mid-September, has motivated over 11.5 million people around the world to pick up over 210 million pounds of trash from nearly 390,000 miles of coastline.
