ASAP Rocky finally breaks his silence on Drake beef

ASAP Rocky’s new Billboard The cover story is a lengthy piece, which should come as no surprise. After all, he’s as involved in music as he is in fashion and film these days, and his family life with Rihanna and their kids is more important than all that. But of course, there was no way the outlet was not I’ll ask about the Harlem creative’s feud with Drake, one of many stemming from a group of artists led by Kendrick Lamar dissing the Toronto superstar this year. While his thoughts definitely satisfy a fan-fueled need to know more about their feud, his comments also make it clear that he considers this a largely irrelevant footnote as he looks back on 2024.

“You gotta realize that certain n***as have been shooting at each other for years,” A$AP Rocky began his words about the feud with Drake. “I ain’t in the middle of that shit. I ain’t getting my revenge. I got better things to do than be a bunch of wimps. There’s real fighting out there. It’s real. N***as gettin’ beaten up and bombed every day. N***as shoot n***as every day. This little shit ain’t got nothing to do with nothing.”

Therefore, it seems that A$AP Rocky’s jabs at Drake on Future and Metro Boomin’s “Show Of Hands,” as well as the ones Drizzy makes for him on tracks like “Family Matters,” are just that for him: jabs. They’re boastful but well-documented bars from two MCs who don’t like each other, but it was never planned for it to escalate into a full-blown fight. Perhaps Rocky’s next album Don’t be stupid will contain more disses, but it’s clear that it’s not a focus. It’s just lyrical content like any other in the rap game.

For those who don’t know, the feud between A$AP Rocky and Drake may date back to when the former started dating Rihanna, which led to their marriage. The fact that it’s a trivial exchange about women they’ve both dated and whether or not they release good albums makes it even more likely that nothing much will come of this feud. Again, we’ll have to wait until Don’t be stupid to see it fully, as the 6ix God may have insulted Rocky again on the recent “It’s Up” featuring Young Thug and 21 Savage. But if it continues like this, their jibes won’t compare to the actual showdown with Kendrick Lamar, and neither lyricist probably wants to take it that far at this point.
