Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) is partnering with TikTok (BDNCE) to enable e-commerce shopping through the short-form video content app, The Information reported Thursday, citing an Amazon spokesperson.
According to the report, the partnership will allow TikTok users to share articles from Amazon advertising without leaving the video app.
“In-app shopping with Amazon is available for select products promoted on TikTok and sold by Amazon or by independent sellers in the Amazon store,” the Amazon spokesperson told The Information.
The collaboration with TikTok complements Amazon’s existing agreements with Pinterest (PINS), Meta Platforms (META) and Snap (SNAP).
Previously, Amazon ads on TikTok and Instagram led users to a link that took them to the company’s shopping website.
But the new ads allow users to link their social media accounts to their Amazon profiles and pay within the social media apps using the payment and shipping information they have stored with Amazon, the report said.
According to screenshots reviewed by The Information, the social media ads also show more details that a shopper would find on the Amazon website, including prices, estimated delivery times and Prime eligibility.
