Annual Back to School Fair – this Saturday, August 24th

Join us on Saturday, August 24th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the annual MCPS Back to School Fair at Westfield Wheaton Mall. The event is a wonderful opportunity for families to learn more about the school system and the county’s programs and services. Enjoy free family activities, music, entertainment and giveaways. This year’s vendors include the KID Museum, Glenstone Museum, Imagination Stage, Montgomery County Recreation and the Montgomery County Police Department’s Community Opioid Prevention Education Trailer. Students and families will receive support from ParentVue. There will also be a free vaccination clinic.

Free shuttles to the event will be available from six high schools starting at 9:00 a.m. Information on the locations and departure times of the shuttles can be found on the trade fair website.

Help us ensure safe transportation for all students

Parents and guardians can help us start the school year smoothly by following simple guidelines and tips to keep all students safe. Visit the MCPS website for important information about school bus transportation, including bus routes and times (scroll to the Bus Routes section), the Ride by the Rules campaign, and school bus riding and safe routes.

Everything you need to know about lunch

The Free and Reduced Price Meals (FARMS) application is available for the 2024-2025 school year. Families must renew their FARMS application each school year, even if their child qualified the previous year.

Students attending schools participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) are eligible for free meals and do not need to apply for FARMS. We encourage all families with students attending schools not participating in the CEP to complete an application for free and reduced-price meals. All meals are free for students who qualify for the program.

Visit the Division of Food and Nutrition Services website for information on pricing, updated menus (including new menu items with student recommendations and vegetarian options), information on how to add money to your child’s account through MySchoolBucks, and more.
