James had the opportunity to try out Card-en-Ciel at Anime Expo and said the demo “made an incredible first impression.”

Card-en-Ciel will be released on October 24 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). In case you missed it, you can check out a story trailer that was released earlier this month.

Card-en-Ciel is a JRPG take on roguelike deckbuilders with a full story, over 300 cards each with unique characters, 50 complete vocal songs, and a 6×3 game board for strategic depth. Take a look at the many systems that await you and dive deep into Card-en-Ciel’s gameplay.

Move freely through the dungeons and fight the enemies of your choice. You take control of Neon, a self-proclaimed detective who specializes in crimes in VR games. When a game in development is suddenly overrun by countless characters from other games old and new, Neon must venture into virtual dungeons to stop them.

Each of the 300+ cards you collect features a unique character from these games. They come to life with English and Japanese voice acting, speaking to friends and enemies and reacting in battle.

Recruit powerful Muse cards that begin playing when you meet their conditions, activating unique effects to enable your most degenerate combos. Each Muse sings a different song, created with the era and genre you’d expect from their original game in mind, with 50 vocal songs in total.
