If you’ve never played them, Monster Hunter games are all about tracking down elusive beasts, defeating them in battle, and then harvesting materials from them to craft better gear so you can hunt even stronger monsters.
Each creature is unique, and once you’re strong enough, you can take on legendary dragons and claim the best rewards in the game. Monster Hunter World has been praised for creating one of the best ecosystems in the series, while Monster Hunter Rise is considered one of the best entry points into the franchise thanks to several quality-of-life improvements to the gameplay formula.
As for expansions, Iceborne introduced new monsters, weapons, and more to the base game, while Sunbreak followed a similar pattern. Monster Hunter World and Rise are also great on Steam Deck, allowing you to take part in hunts on the go.
The next game in the main series, Monster Hunter Worldis set in 2025 and features herds of large monsters to deal with. And finally, if you’re looking for some collectibles, these Pocket-sized Monster Hunter statues looks adorable.
