Woman hit by flying Hulk Hogan beer can at event in Ohio

A woman was injured at a promotional event in Ohio when she was hit by a can of Hulk Hogan’s Real American Beer.

The professional wrestling star was in Medina Township, about 20 miles northwest of Akron, to promote the brand, which launched in early June, USA TODAY reported. Medina Township was one of several stops on a 17-state tour to distribute the “easy-drinking light lager.”

The 50-year-old was hit by a can of “Real American Beer” thrown through the air and knocked to the ground as Hogan was onstage at the Thirsty Cowboy, a local music venue, around 5:30 p.m. on Monday, the Akron Becon Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported.

According to a Medina Township police report, some witnesses told officers that Hogan threw the beer, but other witnesses said it was a crew member who “threw beer off the stage like a ‘baseball pitch,'” according to News 5, a news partner of the Beacon Journal.

No arrests were made because Media Township police officers gave “contradictory” statements, the news agency reported. The woman was treated for her injury and received nine stitches, the news agency said.

USA TODAY has reached out to the Media Township Police Department and Real American Beer for comment.

Hulk Hogan unveils “Real American Beer”

Real American Beer is a “carefully” brewed malt beer made with 100% North American ingredients and has an ABV of 4.2%. The malt gives the beer a rich golden color that provides a “balanced flavor,” according to USA TODAY.

“We’ve assembled an all-star team to make this happen, and I look forward to introducing Real American Beer to fans and beer lovers everywhere,” Hogan said in a press release in June.

“Supermarket chains such as Albertsons, Safeway, Sam’s Club and Walmart carry Real American Beer. Total Wine & More and ABC Fine Wine & Spirits also sell the product.
