A day after a security guard was shot outside the house, a person was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into Drake’s Toronto mansion, police said.
A person reportedly attempted to break into the apartment on Wednesday. He was arrested by police and taken into custody due to mental health issues, Toronto police confirmed to ABC News.
The latest incident came after a male security guard working at the home was shot while standing outside the building’s gate around 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to Inspector Paul Krawczyk of the Toronto Police Service’s Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle, he said.
The security guard was found with an apparent gunshot wound and is still in serious condition in the hospital, Krawczyk said.
Police have not yet confirmed whether the Canadian rapper was at home at the time of the shooting, Krawczyk said. Drake’s team is cooperating with the investigation, Krawczyk told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.

“This is no different than any other investigation. It may be more in the spotlight because there are more people here, but we are treating it like any other incident,” Krawczyk said. “We will use all of our resources. Our teams will do everything they can to investigate this.”
According to Krawczyk, police have video evidence of the incident.
The suspects are still at large. The police currently have neither a vehicle description nor information on the number of suspects, said Krawczyk. A motive is also still unknown, he said.
Drake has been making headlines in recent weeks due to an ongoing exchange of diss tracks with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
