Updated Chiefs SB Trophy CardCOLUMBIA, Missouri – The University of Missouri football team will welcome a great guest at the season opener next week at Memorial Stadium: the Kansas City Chiefs World Championship trophy.

The NFL championship trophy, which the Chiefs won for the second consecutive year, will be on display in the stadium’s North Concourse prior to the Tigers’ opening game on Aug. 29 against Murray State. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to take photos with the trophy during the first quarter of the game. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans will find the trophy in the North Concourse between Gates 1 and 2E.

“This is a unique opportunity to showcase one of the most recognizable symbols of excellence in sports and to honor our great partners in Kansas City,” said Mizzou athletic director Landlord Veatch said, “We couldn’t think of a better way to start the season than by bringing our Chiefs’ legendary state trophy to Memorial Stadium and celebrating the franchise’s recent championship.”

The Chiefs’ trophy is another reason for the exciting day at Memorial Stadium. As announced last week, the halftime presentation will include a light show powered by 300 drones in the night sky, in conjunction with Marching Mizzou’s halftime performance. The drone show will be produced by Sky Elements, the nation’s leading provider of drone light shows. The season opener also marks the debut of Memorial Stadium’s expanded North video board and upgraded sound system.

Led by Coach Eliah Drinkwitzthe 2023 Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year, the No. 11 Tigers return 15 starters from last year’s team that defeated No. 7 Ohio State in the 88th Cotton Bowl Classic, including preseason All-American wide receiver Luther Burden III and candidate for the Davey O’Brien Award and Quarterback Brady Cook.
