Ohio Ag Weather and Forecast, August 23, 2024 – Ohio Ag Net

The end of the week will see warmer weather. Temperatures will reach 27 degrees today in most parts of the state, and we’ll be in the 27-30s over the weekend. Humidity will also increase over the weekend. The string of very pleasant days we’ve had this week is coming to an end.

Next week will be very warm and very humid Monday through Wednesday. Heat and humidity will create instability over the eastern Corn Belt and we can’t rule out isolated sudden showers or thunderstorms any day through Wednesday. The best day for precipitation will likely be Tuesday, but even that doesn’t look great. Precipitation totals for the first half of the week will range from 0.2 to nearly 1 inch, with precipitation at 60%. The map below shows conditions for the Monday through Wednesday period.

A cold front moves through the state next Thursday. The cold front pattern early in the week is likely pulling moisture out of the atmosphere to trigger a really widespread activation along the front on Thursday, but we’re still not ruling out some isolated showers. However, in the driest areas of Ohio in the south central and southeastern parts of the state, we’re not expecting much rain along the front or throughout the week. So we won’t see any improvement in ground conditions there. More importantly, and perhaps more encouraging, the air mass change behind the front will be notable. Temperatures will drop late Thursday, and we’ll be below normal by Friday through the start of Labor Day weekend. We’ll be over 20 degrees below the heat we have here early next week. Temperatures will start to rise again during the first full week of September, but it’ll be a pretty chilly start to the holiday weekend.
