Chaos at BBC Breakfast: Presenter has to fix mistakes | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

The presenters of the BBC breakfast show were surprised on Friday morning when presenter Luxmy Gopal was still doing her hair live on air.

When the cameras panned to the studios at 5.56am to show what was to come on the 6am show, the presenters were far from ready. Charlie Stayt, still adjusting his clothes, said: “Good morning and welcome to BBC Breakfast with Luxmy Gopal and Charlie Stayt.”

Luxmy, still having her hair teased by her hairdresser, said calmly: “Today’s headlines…” before viewers were shown a clip of the headlines, starting with the US presidential election.

Viewers rushed to social media to comment, with one saying: “Start your day with the professionals at #BBCBreakfast.” Another said: “Chaos at @BBCBreakfast as they switch to the studio early and @luxmy_g presents the headlines while getting her hair done! Great professionalism.”

But when the show really started a few minutes later, the two were completely ready and opened the show as professionally as always and without any mishaps.

Charlie usually co-hosts BBC Breakfast with Naga Munchetty, but Luxmy has joined him on the sofa a few times this week.

An experienced presenter with over 10 years’ experience at the BBC, Luxmy is best known as a regular feature on BBC Look North.

However, the television star recently announced that she would be leaving her regular team because her contract with BBC London News is permanent.

Viewers are used to seeing Luxmy presenting news programmes on BBC Breakfast, reporting live from various locations across the UK.

However, she is often called upon as a presenter on weekends and occasionally during the week to cover for the regular presenters.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
