On Friday, August 23, another nuclear reactor in Ukraine was released early from scheduled maintenance.

This was reported to the Ministry of Energy.

It is noted that the connection of the nuclear power plant will help balance the country’s power grid and avoid power outages.

“Today, a nuclear power plant was connected to the electricity grid, adding 1,000 MW of power and stability to the electricity network and allowing consumers to avoid restrictions on electricity supply,” the statement said.

We would like to remind you that on July 17, the planned repair of the power unit at one of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants was completed ahead of schedule. The unit was connected to the power grid.

It was previously reported that on the night of July 16, an equipment failure occurred at one of the power plants, which increased the energy deficit in the system, Ukrenergo reported.

Subsequently, information spread on social networks that one of the power blocks at PANPP had been switched off following the accident.

When asked whether there had actually been a failure of the power plants in the power plant, the southern Ukrainian nuclear power plant responded in a comment to NikVesti that they cannot give an official comment on this situation in accordance with the Laws of Ukraine “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law” of March 26, 2022. However, nuclear scientists assured that the power plant complex is functioning normally.

At the same time, Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Center, said that two electricity transformers had burned down at the southern Ukrainian nuclear power plant, and on July 18, a power transformer had burned down.

It should be recalled that before the start of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, 15 nuclear power plants were operating, of which nine are now located on the controlled territory of the South Ukraine (three units), Khmelnytsky (two units) and Rivne (four units) nuclear power plants. Another six units are located at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which is occupied by the Russian army.
