Author of “Absolute Batman” explains how the new continuity transforms the Dark Knight

Batman has worked very hard to keep his secret identity as billionaire Bruce Wayne a secret. If it ever got out that Bruce Wayne was Batman, it could destroy his entire company and put his loved ones in danger. But the Absolute Universe’s version of Batman doesn’t have to worry about that.

DC is about to release the new Absolute Universe comic series and Scott Snyder has revealed details on his upcoming Absolute Batman #1 with Nick Dragotta. Snyder revealed one of the most interesting things about this new Batman: that he is Bruce Wayne is completely irrelevantIn this universe, Bruce Wayne is not a super-rich celebrity, but a nobody.

Since Batman’s secret identity is meaningless, he can do anything. He can fully devote himself to the role of Batman without having to worry about keeping up appearances as Bruce Wayne at the next big charity party he has to attend.

In the main DC Universe The fact that Batman’s secret identity has come to light has always been a big problem. If people knew that Bruce Wayne was Batman, his villains would probably immediately launch an attack on Wayne Manor, just as Bane did during the events of Batman: Knightfall. Wayne Enterprises would also come under fire, as people no doubt questioned how much of Wayne Enterprises’ funding actually went to Batman and his equipment. The leaked information would also put the lives of the extended Bat-Family at risk, but Absolute Batman avoids all of this simply by being from a different class background.

This new version of Batman is not the billionaire prince of Gotham City, but simply a city engineer, one of probably hundreds in Gotham. There is nothing unique about this Bruce Waynewhich is why he doesn’t have to come up with excuses or reasons for his bulky, conspicuous physique. The Bruce of the main DCU always had to come up with excuses for his random injuries or why he’s in such perfect physical shape, but Absolute Batman is just another nobody in a city of millions. Even if someone discovered his secret identity, it wouldn’t mean anything at all.
