Former NBA All-Star calls Devin Booker a better scorer than Steph Curry

NBA All-Star and all-time leading shooter Stephen Curry has had a magical summer. The four-time NBA champion won his first gold medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and Team USA had his heroics to thank for it.

Curry has performed outstandingly at the last two Olympic Games and shown on the world stage that he is one of the best basketball players of all time.

The 36-year-old is still in great shape, so it’s no surprise that he’s the topic of conversation when almost everything is basketball-related. That was the case on the Gilbert Arenas Show. Arenas and the other guests analyzed the difference between shooters and scorers.

In this clip, Areans said that he believes Phoenix Suns superstar guard Devin Booker is a better scorer than Curry.

“It’s a big picture thing; Devin Booker would be considered more of a scorer than Steph Curry,” Arenas said. “Of course a scorer, yes,” Arenas replied to former NBA guard Brandon Jennings when he asked, “Really?!?!”

Jennings disagreed with this comment and replied that Curry could score from all over the field.

Areans and the other guests spent the next few minutes discussing this topic.

Although Curry is the greatest shooter of all time, people often forget that he can score from anywhere on the court, much like Booker. The former Davidson Wildcat is a two-time NBA scoring champion and has averaged 24.8 points per game in his 15-year career.

Booker is also not to be underestimated on offense. Booker is one of the best scorers in the league, having already scored 70 points in his second season, which is a career high. This puts him in the ranks of all-time greats who score 70 or more points in a game, such as Wilt Chamberlain, David Robinson, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor and Kobe Bryant.

The 27-year-old averaged 24.3 points per game in his nine-year career.

The difference between a scorer and a shooter is something you can debate for hours. Curry and Booker can compete with the best and are members of the All-NBA teams because of their scoring ability and their impact on their team.

These guys are some of the best scorers we’ve seen in the last decade or so, and there’s no reason why that shouldn’t continue into the 2024-25 season.
