It’s Friday in Milwaukee, and here are some things we think you should know. If you would like your event to be considered for this column, please submit your news via Click here at least two weeks in advance.

The City of Milwaukee Health Department will host its 23rd annual Back to School Health Fair on Saturday, August 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Milwaukee Academy of Science, 2000 W. Kilbourn Ave. Children will receive free school supplies, immunizations, food and more. More information here.

Artist Pablo Guerreiro will lead a Brazilian Samba dance workshop on Saturday, August 10, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Casa Cultural de Bembé, 611 S. Layton Blvd. This event is open to those 18 and older. Click here to register and purchase a ticket for $25. More information here.

Families are invited to a school bag giveaway with free school supplies at King Park, 1531 W. Vliet St., on Saturday, August 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other activities include bounce houses, food, a talent show and more. More information here.



The Milwaukee Central Library is hosting a teen movie night to celebrate summer reading. Teens can watch “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” on Saturday, August 10th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at 814 W. Wisconsin Ave. For more information, click here.

Bembé Drum & Dance invites you to an evening of song, dance and drumming that highlights Afro-Puerto Rican traditions. This free community event will take place on Sunday, August 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Zócalo Food Truck Park, 636 S. Sixth St. More information here.
