Construction of the new Paso Robles High School aquatics center is underway

This summer, construction began on the Paso Robles High School Aquatic Center, which will include a 40-meter swimming pool.

Completion is scheduled for November 2025. Athletic Director Michael Sauret said the facility will accommodate both PRHS aquatics teams and the community.

“The incredible thing about this facility is that we have both deep and shallow water, allowing us to offer swimming lessons and a real swimming experience to all of the students in our district,” Sauret said.

The swimming pool may prove even more beneficial for the students of Paso Robles High School.

“Currently, the water polo team, the swimming team and the diving team all train at the municipal pool, which is on the other side of town,” Sauret said.

PRHS student Emily “EJ” McNeal represents her school on each of these teams and shared her experiences without a swimming pool on campus.

“My freshman and sophomore year, I didn’t have my own car,” McNeal said. “We had to ride these buses or carpool with other senior team members. It would have been so much easier to just walk here instead of having to drive.”

She added that having a swimming pool on campus would increase the pride of the aquatics teams on campus.

“Our teammates can’t watch us practice and some of them can’t come to our games. But if we had this pool on campus, we could show off all of our hard work and our teammates could watch us more easily,” McNeal said.
