Kroger apologizes after a customer was charged 0 too much on his credit card – but the store cannot provide a refund

An angry customer raised concerns after being overcharged at a Kroger store.

Neither the store nor Kroger’s corporate office were able to locate the amount charged to the customer’s credit card and therefore were unable to issue a refund.

The customer tweeted that he had been charged about $110 too much on his credit card at a Mariano’s store, one of Kroger’s many chains.

The shopper, who tagged Kroger in his tweet, expressed his anger at the situation.

“@kroger: I was charged about $110 too much on my credit card at Marianos and neither the store nor the office can find the amount to refund me the difference,” the tweet said.

The apology

Kroger’s official X-Account immediately apologized and offered to help resolve the matter.

“Oh no!” wrote the chain.

“We are very sorry about that. We will look into your account to see what the best solution would be.”

“May we ask you to send us a DM with the loyalty card number and transaction date?”

However, it remains unclear whether the customer complied with Kroger’s request to provide additional information via direct message.

Since there is no reaction from the customer, at least not publicly, the solution to the problem is questionable.

ABOUT MARIANO’S

Mariano’s is a well-known grocery store chain that primarily serves the greater Chicago area.

Kroger promises $1 billion in price cuts after Albertsons merger

It was founded in 2010 by Bob Mariano, a former CEO of Roundy’s, Inc.

Due to its high-quality products, unique store layout and specialist departments, it quickly became very popular.

Mariano’s stores often feature amenities such as cafes, sushi bars and extensive wine selections, making them a favorite among Chicagoans seeking a premium grocery shopping experience.

Kroger’s Refund Policy

Kroger customers can return items with or without a receipt.

All Kroger Co. family stores allow returns for items purchased at any location within 30 days of purchase.

Returns with receipts:

  • Customers can use digital or paper receipts to get a refund
  • The refund will be made using the same payment method used to make the purchase, either by card or in cash.

Returns without receipt:

  • Customers who wish to return more than $10 will receive a gift card for the value of the goods
  • Customers who have spent less than $10 will receive cash

In 2015, Kroger, one of the largest supermarket chains in the United States, acquired Roundy’s, Inc.

This included Mariano’s as part of its portfolio.

Since then, Mariano’s has operated under the Kroger umbrella, benefiting from the company’s extensive resources and supply chain while maintaining its distinctive brand identity.

There have been similar complaints about Kroger from customers.

Kroger customers have expressed outrage over the grocery chain’s troubling security measures, including the use of facial recognition technology.

The angry reaction comes after the food giant recently came under criticism for its “price explosion”.

And Kroger customers are calling the new fried chicken changes “unacceptable” and begging the chain to reinstate the old method.
