Have the Phillies found a “long-term solution” for the center field position in the son of the former All-Star?

The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the best teams in baseball right now, but their future could be even brighter.

With promising talents like Andrew Painter developing in Philadelphia’s farm system, the Phillies are set for a golden era of sustained excellence over the next decade.

One of Philadelphia’s most promising young players – especially considering his age – is 20-year-old outfielder Justin Crawford, the son of former major league player Carl Crawford.

In an article published Saturday titled “Roman Anthony and the 25 best MLB prospects age 20 or younger in 2024,” Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter ranked Crawford 11th and discussed his potential to become Philadelphia’s center fielder in the near future.

“With a superior hitting tool, outstanding speed and strong baseball pedigree as the son of former All-Star Carl Crawford, the No. 17 pick in the 2022 draft has the potential to be a star,” Reuter said. “He’s hitting .302/.348/.430 with 32 extra-base hits and 36 steals in 93 games between High-A and Double-A, and once he gets to the big leagues, he could finally provide a long-term answer to the Phillies’ long-standing center field question.”

Crawford is considered Philadelphia’s third-best prospect, with only Painter and highly touted young shortstop Aidan Miller being better.
