The Masters Menu and why is it so cheap?

When you go to a live sporting event, you're bound to pay a fortune for food and drinks before you're stuck in a merchandise store and pressured into spending millions of dollars on shirts, bucket hats and umbrellas. But that's not necessarily the case at the Masters, which is taking place this weekend.

Sure, you’ll have to dig deep into your pockets for merchandise, but the concessions are notoriously cheap and have been frozen in time for 20 years.

A beer is just $5, a selection of sandwiches is just $3 and Augusta National’s famous egg salad sandwich – which looks disgusting – is just $1.50. That’s the equivalent of £1.20.

But inflation has not spared the Masters from price increases either. Crow’s Nest, a beer brewed especially for the golf major, has risen from $5 to $6. The Georgia Peach Ice Cream Sandwich now costs $3, previously it was $2.50.

With tickets for the tournament’s golf days costing around $140, if you can get them, it’s clear that the Masters organizers are banking on cheap concessions.

And we agree!

But what if you can’t get to the Masters to try the famous menu? Well, apparently you can enjoy it at home!

Taste of the Masters kits are available that offer a piece of Augusta.

Although bread, rolls and alcohol are not included in the price, you can pay a fortune for a packet of cheese and egg salad, some popcorn and chips.

Bizarre.
