Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda visits damaged Binod Bihari Temple and promises immediate repair and conservation work

BJP national vice-president and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda on Saturday visited the Binod Bihari Temple to take stock of the situation after the ancient temple at Kakata Mouza in Kendrapara district was damaged in a lightning strike on August 19.

According to reports, the temple was damaged due to a lightning strike. Stones were blown away at two places in the temple. The Dadhinauti of the temple was also damaged.

After visiting the temple, Panda said that steps would soon be taken to preserve the temple.

This temple is one of the ancient monuments in Odisha and needs repairs. Since it is associated with the sentiments of countless number of devotees, steps would be taken in this regard soon, the MP said.

“We have come to this 800-year-old temple to assess the extent of damage caused by lightning strike. The damage will definitely be repaired. The government organization responsible for conservation will take timely action,” he added.

Umakanta Singh, member of the temple trustee board, said, “The MP inspected the condition of the temple and assured us that the restoration work would begin soon. Before leaving, he also promised that he would visit the temple after the repair work was completed.”

“MP Baijayant Panda has visited the temple and inspected its condition. He will speak to the officials concerned about the repair work of the temple. We hope that the work will start soon,” said Kishore Panda, BJP leader in Kendrapara district.
