HD Kote MLA: Repair work on Kabini Dam to begin soon

Mysore: HD Kote MLA Anil Kumar C stated that the Kabini Dam in HD Kote is to be repaired at an estimated cost of about Rs 6 crore. He told reporters that the main Minister for Water Resources has given assurances in this regard. “The Restoration work Work on the dam is expected to begin soon. In addition, there are plans to develop a park near Kabini Dam on the model of the KRS Dam in Mandya. A detailed estimate of Rs 30 crore has been prepared for this project and steps are being taken to start the work shortly,” he said.
“My taluk is blessed with three reservoirs, a sanctuary and abundant natural resources and contributes significantly to tourism in the region. Hence, tourism development is being given high priority,” he added. TNN

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) considered introducing strict water control measures. With only 5800 lakh gallons of water left, which would last for about 130 days, the TTD asked locals and pilgrims to avoid wastage. It also recommended working with local authorities to find a solution.
