Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly embarrassed by the backlash they received following their recent tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have returned from their trip to Colombia, are stunned by the public reaction to their excursion.
A source told OK!: “They are mortified by this recent backlash, especially because they heard similar comments when they travelled to Nigeria. They want to help raise awareness of the issues facing some of these countries and they know their profile can highlight that. They also know that these trips help to boost their standing in Hollywood and in turn help their brand. They don’t want to stop doing this but aren’t sure what to do next to win everyone back over.”
This comes as Colombian official Andres Escobar claims the government spent enormous sums to welcome Harry and Meghan.
“There are many, many Colombians who are hungry and lack basic needs,” he said.
“They invested this money because the vice president wanted to meet two high-ranking public figures and put aside the criticism and problems we have here. We are in an economic crisis and eight billion pesos were spent on Harry and Meghan’s visit, Colombian military planes and helicopters were used and the money could have been better spent,” he noted.
