Hurlburt Heating and Cooling wants to help more families with free HVAC service

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Hurlburt Heating and Cooling wants to help families in need of heating, ventilation and air conditioning services with the “Feel The Love” program.

It works with Lennox International to find families like the Juliots.

“It was a stroke of luck because she found the tumor,” Shannah said.

She is a daughter of Tina and Jon.

She recalls how a hospital stay saved her life after she suffered from double vision and constant falls due to balance problems.

“I had a tumor at the bottom of my 6th ventricle. So kind of at the bottom of my brain stem,” Shannah said.

She is also a cancer survivor.

“The five-person oncology team came and that’s when I knew she had cancer,” Tina said.

Her daughter started high school in 2020 when she first showed symptoms.

“Cancer is not a pleasant journey,” said Tina.

“It kind of takes the wind out of your sails,” Jon said.

There were operations and chemotherapy.

The majority of the costs were covered by health insurance and thanks to the generosity of St. Jude’s Hospital.

“Unfortunately, one of us had to decide to quit his job because the vacation only lasts for a limited time,” said Tina.

In the summer of 2021, a mouse caused the air conditioning system to fail.

“Of course that would happen,” said Tina.

Not to mention that the heating in the house was also old.

“20 years before I was born. So that was really old,” Shannah said.

A family friend called Hurlburt Heating and Cooling.

“And she told them, ‘My friends, this is what they are going through. Can you help them? I will even pay for it,'” Jon said.

Someone was sent free of charge to check the systems.

“One of our engineers actually nominated her,” said Andrew Evanoff.

He is the sales and installation manager at Hurlburt and is also looking for families who want to “feel the love.”

“In this case, Hurlburt would donate the labor to install the air conditioning and heating for a family in need,” Evanoff said. “I think the program is desperately needed, but unfortunately we receive so many applications each year that we would like to see more.”

A weekend in October 2021.

“Four or five trucks showed up,” Jon said.

The company owner appeared at the Juliots’ home in Eau Claire.

“He said it usually takes two people, but everyone wanted to be here,” Jon said.

The air conditioning and heating were also installed free of charge.

“They are super nice,” Shannah said.

“Just tickled. It makes you feel good about humanity,” Jon said.

It was also the weekend after Shanna officially went into remission.

“To be honest, they don’t even talk about remission anymore. They say there are no signs of disease,” Jon said.

There were definitely signs of love.

Shannah will soon begin college while continuing to chase life.

Lennox and Hurlburt Heating and Cooling and other participating companies are seeking nominees through August 31.

Here is the link specifically for Lennox. There is an option to look up participating dealers.
