Batman trailer reveals Robert Pattinson as vengeful Bruce Wayne

The latest trailer for “The Batman” reveals Robert Pattinson as the dark, vengeful Bruce Wayne.

The 35-year-old British actor features in brutal fight scenes, chases and dramatic explosions as he moves through Gotham City and witnesses the rise of his rivals.

After numerous delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, the highly anticipated reboot is now scheduled to hit theaters in March.

The film opens with a melancholy view of a cafe on a dark, rainy night, but it quickly turns unsettled as police storm through the scene to arrest an anonymous figure sitting at the bar with his back to her, wearing a dark winter coat and glasses.

After the man is escorted out by a horde of police officers, the camera pans to a coffee cup with a question mark engraved on the top of the foam to announce the appearance of Batman’s first rival – Riddler.

Then the classic bat symbol shines in the night sky as Batman looks down on it in his famous all-black suit.

He then appears and single-handedly fights a gang whose faces are painted as clowns, a notable nod to another classic villain, the Joker.

During the action, the threatening words are heard: “Fear is a tool. And when that light reaches the sky, it is not just a call. It is a warning.”

Zoe Kravitz, who plays Catwoman Selina Kyle, makes a dramatic entrance as she is seen kicking someone in the head.

Her character then asks Batman, “Maybe we’re not so different after all. Who are you underneath?” to which he replies, “I’m Vengeance.”

The teaser shows fight scenes, chases and explosions, increasing the anticipation for the suspenseful action film.

Colin Farrell is unrecognizable in the role of comic book villain Oswald Cobblepot, also known as the Penguin.

His character thinks he has had the last laugh as he drives away from an exploding, flaming car, screaming, “I got you.”

But he can’t escape that easily, because the Batmobile emerges from the rubble and crashes violently into the car. In the final scene, Batman runs menacingly towards his arch enemy.

In “The Batman,” directed by Matt Reeves, Pattinson follows in the footsteps of actors such as Christian Bale, Ben Affleck, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton and George Clooney and plays the Dark Knight.

The film also stars Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City Police Chief Commissioner Gordon.
