Williamson Breens to close by year’s end – The Times of Wayne County

Breen’s Market in Williamson, a Wayne County staple for over a century, has announced it will close its doors for good.

On Thursday, the Breen family issued an official statement:

“After over 115 years in the grocery business and over 40 years in Williamson, we decided it was time to close and start a new chapter in our lives.

We cannot thank enough the countless customers and organizations who have not only given us incredible support over the many years here, but have also become our friends.

Our little meat market from 1908 could never have survived and grown over the last 100 years if we hadn’t had the staff we were fortunate to have. The name may have been Breen’s, but it was the staff that made us feel at home. They will be missed the most during this transition. We wish them nothing but success and luck in the future and know they will thrive wherever they end up.

Over the next few weeks we will slowly reduce inventory and prepare for a final liquidation sale at the end of September.

The property owners have a wonderful plan for the course and time will tell that once completed it will fit well into the community.

Thank you all again for your support for over 100 years.

“The secret of change is to concentrate all your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new” – Socrates.

Sincerely

The Breen Family”
